The current design of Facebook has turned us all into wannabe graphic designers and photo editors, whether we like it or not. I don't like it. Still, it's what we're stuck with. Since the new design debuted last year, I've been on the hunt for photo editing tools that make it easy on me. Below is my current list of favorites, but this list is constantly changing. I'll try to add new posts here when I discover new, groovy tools that are actually easy.
Here are some sites that make it easy to build collages and to add text to photos, which I have always found to be tricky:
PicMonkey.com: I love this one for how it easily creates photo collages in the proper size for using as your Facebook "cover" photo--that big, wide photo at the top of your Facebook Business Page.
Pinstamatic.com: Geared for use with Pinterest, but useful for other things as well. Often I'll create something in this program, take a screenshot of it, then drop the screenshot in my go-to photo editing program called "Paint" and make further adjustments to it.
Online-image-editor.com This one can be a bit clunky, but it does some things I haven't been able to do elsewhere.
Image Chef One that I've used for a long time because of the way it takes stock images and let's you customize them. The yellow sticky note at the top of this post is one example. The site looks like something created for teens during the MySpace era, but there really are some useful tools for business here.
And, finally, if you are SmartPhone-enabled, you might find these free "apps" helpful for when you want to take, edit and post photos directly from your SmartPhone to your social media sites (something I'm doing more and more of lately). Just go to the "apps" store on iTunes to find these free tools:
- Aviary
- Phonto
- PicStich
- symbolGram
- PicsArt
